austinpact.org: Public Access Community Television is the manager for the Public Access cable channels in Austin. We program three channels (10, 11, & 16) on Time Warner Cable and Grande Cable. We have digital cameras and other equipment available to produce your project at very low cost, and channel space to show your work to viewers on cable.
www.aivf.org: AIVF is a national media advocacy group headquartered in New York providing services and resources to independent media including publication of The Independent, seminars and networking events, information services, trade discounts, and support of regional, member-run salons across the country. The Austin salon is currently focused on organization of a quarterly meeting, bringing together film and video artists with representatives from local media organizations for informational updates, networking, and discussion.
www.austinactors.net: AustinActors.net is a no-dues, no-fee cooperative organization of local film and theatre actors, filmmakers, acting coaches, casting directors and agents. Real-time audition notices for independent film, UT student films and shorts are updated in real-time through public submission by filmmakers and local producers. The AustinActors.net group meets monthly for an open happy hour with guest speaker.
www.austinfilmfestival.com: The Austin Film Festival is dedicated to furthering the art, craft and business of writers and filmmakers and recognizing their contributions to film, television and new media. The AFF holds a Screenplay and Teleplay Competition, as well as a Narrative and Documentary Film Competition. Each October, the AFF hosts a four day screenwriter’s conference as well as an eight day film festival.
www.austinfilm.org: Austin Film Society's year-round exhibition includes more than 100 screenings of rarely seen films. Support for artists includes grants through the Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund, advice, referral, workshops and fiscal sponsorship. AFS also trains interns and helps them find work on films, and publishes Persistence of Vision, the quarterly journal of the Austin film community.
www.agliff.org: The Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival (aGLIFF) is the oldest and largest festival of its kind in the Southwest. Now in its 17th year, the festival has developed into a major multi-cultural community event. Mission statement: to create positive and visible images relevant to gay and lesbian lives, educate the community about gay and lesbian issues and support the production of the best in gay and lesbian films and videos.
www.austinmusicnetwork.org: The Austin Music Network is a 24-hour, non-profit television station dedicated to promoting the past, present, and future of Austin music, film, and arts. AMN boasts the largest library of Texas music video, and will soon have the largest library of independent Texas films. AMN is cablecast in Austin, San Marcos, and San Antonio on Time Warner and Grande Communications, and features a worldwide video stream on its Website. AMN also acts as a production company for private parties who want to make a music video, commercial, or any other video/audio project.
www.austinstudios.org: Austin Studios, a film and video production facility, was created in 2000 through a partnership with the Austin Film Society and the City of Austin. Austin Studios consists of five stages (totaling 100,000 sf of production space), a 10,000 sf production office, a dailies screening room, and acres of parking. Austin Studios works with both studio and independent productions at all budget levels.
www.cinelasamericas.org: Cine Las Americas Media Arts Center presents the Cine Las Américas International Film Festival, showcasing contemporary films from North, Central, South America and the Caribbean. Categories include Narrative Feature, Documentary, Short Film, Animation, and Youth Films. The festival is held traditionally at the end of April of every year.
www.dfrg.org: The Austin Digital Filmmaking Resource Group's basic mission is to expand and encourage the Central Texas digital filmmaking community through educational programs, services, and special events.
www.flickeraustin.com: Flicker originated in 1994 in Athens, GA as an amateur film night and has since branched out to 11 other cities, including Austin, TX. We do screenings 4 times a year, each time with a different set of shorts, which are free of submission charges to the filmmaker, and use our network as a free touring & distribution system. We screen pieces that originate on celluloid film and are under 15 minutes in length.
www.reelwomen.org: REEL WOMEN is a non-profit organization that provides information, education, networking events and opportunities for community service to women (and others) at all levels of experience in the film and video industries.
www.sxsw.com: The South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival is annual event held every March in Austin. Learn how you can attend or submit your film to one of the best new showcases of independent filmmaking in the nation.
www.taftp.com: Since 1975, the TAF/TP, a statewide not for profit trade association, has been dedicated to promoting the film, video and commercial production industry in Texas. Headquartered in Dallas, TAF/TP members (over 900 in 2003) represent the core of the production industry in Texas. The Austin chapter holds regular seminars and community meetings.
